ECLIC organisational and user roles
This page describes the company and user roles used within the ECLIC digital collaboration process for exchanging transport, cleaning and equipment information.
1. ECLIC organisational roles
ECLIC organisational roles, also called company roles or eECD licence types, define how companies exchange transport, cleaning and equipment information. A specific eECD company licence is required to fulfil a specific organisational role in the industry-standard transactional collaboration process.
Licensing and credit notes
-
Roles marked with an asterisk in the organisational role overview consume eECD, eECO or ePPL credits each time a document is exchanged and require an eECD licence with ECLIC.
-
Sellers do not consume eECD credits themselves because they do not perform ECD cleaning activities in the eECD process. They must, however, have an eECD licence and login account to maintain their product lists and SDS information.
-
A company can fulfil multiple organisational roles.
Seller and Integrated Seller
In addition to the standard Seller role, ECLIC provides an Integrated Seller role. This is an extension of the standard Seller role that can share transport order information directly with carriers through a NxtPort order ingestion channel.
The Integrated Seller role enables carriers to work faster and with fewer manual steps because order, product and loading information does not need to be typed again when equipment is assigned.
2. NxtPort Company Administrator
The NxtPort Company Administrator is the initial person or email address that registers the company on the NxtPort platform. This user subsequently joins the ECLIC community and subscribes to the ECLIC use case.
After the registration is formally approved by ECLIC, the central Company Administrator can invite additional users and assign the ECLIC user roles described below.
3. ECLIC eECD user roles
The following table summarises the available ECLIC eECD user roles and their responsibilities.
|
User role |
Responsibilities |
|---|---|
|
eECD Admin / User Administrator |
For a Cleaner, the eECD Cleaner Admin can create additional cleaning locations under the cleaning company and assign and maintain users for each newly created cleaning location. |
|
Product Manager |
Manages product master data and SDS safety data sheets. |
|
Location Manager (Seller) |
Manages the loading locations table for the Seller, including assigning loading locations from Loaders to specific products. |
|
Loading Operator |
Performs loading actions by accepting and completing the required loading documents. |
|
Viewer |
Can only consult eECD booklet documents. This role is restricted to the Loader organisational role. The role can also be assigned to Customer Service or to a third-party freight forwarder that does not own or manage equipment and only plans transport on behalf of the Seller. Do not assign the Viewer role at random to Equipment Operator or Cleaner roles, as editing and viewing records can create conflicts. |
|
Equipment Manager |
|
|
Despatcher |
|
|
Location Manager (Cleaner) |
|
|
Cleaning Operator |
Cleaning Operators should preferably be linked to at least one Cleaning Location to define their current location and avoid selecting a default location from a dropdown for every cleaning action. One Cleaning Operator can be linked to multiple cleaning locations when required. |
4. Role assignment guidance
Assign roles according to the company's organisational role and the user's operational responsibilities. In particular, avoid assigning the Viewer role to Equipment Operator or Cleaner users when they need to edit records, because this can create conflicts between viewing and editing permissions.
-
Assign at least one eECD Admin or User Administrator to manage users and company settings.
-
For cleaning companies with multiple locations, use the Cleaner Admin and Cleaning Location Manager responsibilities to maintain locations and local users.
-
Link Cleaning Operators to their relevant Cleaning Locations whenever possible.
-
Use the Integrated Seller role when transport orders are sent through the NxtPort order ingestion channel.
